Services

For the past 12 years HMH Golf and Leisure has been involved in the sale, acquisition and valuation of prime golf properties in the UK and Europe. We have built up excellent contacts in all areas of the market and are seen by many as the first to come to for discreet specialist advice.

UNITED KINGDOM

Brokerage

We dispose of some eight to ten courses per year on average.

Prestigious sales have included St Mellion International (the Benson & Hedges Venue), East Sussex National (venue of the European Open) Chart Hills (the first Nick Faldo designed golf course), The London Golf Club (36 hole Nicklaus designed venue), The Addington (a mature Surrey heathland course), Camberley Heath (another mature Surrey layout by HS Colt), Les Bordes (by Von Hagge in France), Golf del Sur in Tenerife, El Bosque in Valencia and Alto Golf in the Algarve.

We also act for purchasers who have need of specialist advice during the buying process and benefit from our detailed knowledge of the market and the players within it which enables us to make disceet approaches to owners.

Professional

Valuations for banks, finance houses and individuals are carried out on a regular basis with values ranging from £500,000 upwards.

Recently we have valued both Wentworth Golf Club and Brocket Hall, perhaps the most best known venues in the South East, and we were also involved in the valuations for the acquisition of The Belfry by the Quinn Group.

MAINLAND EUROPE

Brokerage

HMH Golf and Leisure have sold two courses in Europe this year (see press release button for further information). and we are currently selling other courses in Europe (see properties for sale) and anticipating that more will come onto the market within the next few months.

Development and Management Consulting

We carry out studies into the supply and demand for golf courses, golf hotels and golf resorts, both nationally and internationally. These can include indications as to likely future trading levels and hence possible future values based on industry norms, our knowledge of similar operations and current market evidence. We recently produced a study for the Scottish Assembly and a well known American group in respect of a major new golf resort on the east coast of Scotland. This included detailed research into the global golf tourist industry including total trips made per country, the number of visits to specific countries and how to increase market share. In addition the initial viability of the scheme was considered ie whether the golf and hotel elements alone were viable or whether enabling development would be required and, if so, what mix of accommodation would be preferable and achievable bearing in mind planning policies, location, demand, etc. For further information please contact Nicholas Hopton FRICS.
